Augmented Reality Book
Fake news is becoming increasingly problematic. News channels have started prioritising attention over truth, causing public confusion and distrust in mainstream information channels. I used my Graphic Design skills to address this issue, creating an interactive Augmented Reality experience / spiral bound booklet.
My intended target audience were teenagers in high school classroom environments. By presenting information to them using AR, bright colours and interesting graphics I hoped to captivate this demographic, creating an entirely new educational experience. It is an exercise that, if successful, could raise smarter and more aware future leaders, visionaries and citizens.
The book utilises barcodes that link to external resources. The book also walks the student through: Examples of fake news throughout history and tips on how they can be more aware and critical of online information.
The reader can use their iPad / phone (as well as the free-to-download Artivive app) to engage with educational AR videos and interactive exercises.
Pages from the book
The book’s content was researched and referenced. I condensed information from multiple ted talks, academic articles, websites and news channels.
At the end of this book, people can scan a barcode that links to a Change.org petition. It urges the Australian government to monitor and reprimand news companies. This would prevent them from skewing information to support specific agendas.
